I managed to grab a few Q & A’s out of Monocle on the new venture. continue reading…

Q & A: Pierre-alexis Dumas (Artistic Director, Hermès)

Why have you decided to launch a furniture and fabric division now? The journey started in 1930 when Emile Hermès collaborated with Jean-Michel Frank and this foray was followed by many more, including Rena Dumas’ ‘Pippa’ Collection in the 80’s. We feel now is the right time to create a universe for the home, taking furniture and furnishing products as a starting point.
Availability? Jean-Michel Frank colections are available in two Paris stores, will soon be available worldwide starting with the US followed by Asia and then Europe. In two years time 40 Hermès stores will be able to present the complete world of ‘la-maison’.
Target Market? People who look for quality, comfort, honesty perfection  and longevity. All lovers of furniture, interior architects and decorators in search of timeless objects.
